Mass Communication Portfolio

A collection of my work as a Mass Communication student

MSCM 275: Information Gathering

Information Gathering involves intensive research on a topic chosen by the student. I spent 15 weeks researching water appropriation rights, ending with over 100 pages of evidence-backed research and a 19 page final essay.

JAMS 370: Public Relations Writing

PR Writing is a writing-intensive, hands-on experience that explores the world of public relations by creating content. I wrote press releases, memos, fact sheets, and PSA's, along with designing newsletters and brochures. I ended with a public relations campaign proposal for ASLC, Linfield College's student government.

JAMS 347: Principles of Public Relations

Principles of Public Relations helped establish the fundamental building blocks of the industry and its nuances. I researched different communication theories, strategies, and tactics for communication, and created a campaign plan for an imaginary client.

JAMS 321: Topics in Media Production

Topics in Media Production focused around the creation of many different forms of multimedia. The course included creation of podcasts, videos, and other multimedia content. My final project was a website for a philanthropy event.

JAMS 343: Social Media Theory and Practice

Social Media Theory and Practice was a deep dive into the specifics of social media and how it continues to dominate the globe. The course involved research, exploration of social media methods, and ended with the completion of an extensive social media plan.

JAMS 112: Electronic Media Practices

Electronic Media Practices was an opportunity to hone video and audio production skills. One project created for this class was a faux news production package.
