How Walk a Mile got started

In 2014, Pike did not have a consistent philanthropy presence at Linfield College. A brother passionate about sexual violence prevention learned about the idea of a walk in high heels from other organizations and the chapter liked the idea.

Pike reached out to the Henderson House, a local sexual violence shelter and advocacy center, and created a partnership. Every April, Pikes would raise money for the Henderson House by doing the walk a mile event.

2019 is the 5th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes philanthropy event. Since its inception in 2014, Linfield Pi Kappa Alpha has raised over $30,000 for the Henderson House. The event expands every year and is highly anticipated by chapter members.
